Waste Connections Director of Workday HRIS in The Woodlands, Texas

Position Overview: The Director of Workday HRIS will play a pivotal role in overseeing the strategic implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) within our organization. This position requires strong technical expertise, leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively, and a strategic mindset to drive the effective utilization of Workday and other HR platforms to support our business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Workday Strategy and Leadership:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Workday HRIS strategy aligned with organizational goals and industry best practices.

  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance to the HRIS team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Proactively remain current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies, recommending and implementing process improvements accordingly.

  • Stakeholder Engagement and Support:

  • Collaborate with HR leaders, business stakeholders, and end-users to understand business requirements and translate them into Workday/HRIS solutions.

  • Provide guidance, support, and training to HR and organizational stakeholders to maximize their use of Workday functionality and features.

  • System Implementation and Optimization:

  • Oversee Workday and other HRIS platform implementation projects, including planning, configuration, testing, deployment and on-going support.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of Workday and other HRIS platforms with existing systems and business processes.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to optimize Workday functionality and processes to enhance efficiency, user experience, and data integrity.

  • Data Management and Reporting:

  • Oversee the management, integrity, and security of HR data within the Workday system, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Develop and maintain Workday reports, dashboards, and analytics to provide insights and support data-driven decision-making.

  • Utilize Workday data to generate HR metrics, trends, and forecasts to inform strategic workforce planning and talent management initiatives.

  • Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure Workday configurations and processes comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to data privacy, security, and reporting.

  • Partner with legal, compliance, and security teams to mitigate risks and ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across departments and levels of the organization.

  • Strong understanding of HR processes, data management principles, and regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Ten years of Information Systems, Information Technology and/or HRIS experience.

  • Six years of Workday configuration experience and in-depth knowledge of Workday HCM modules, including Core HR, Benefits, Talent, and Learning.

  • Four years in a leadership role overseeing Workday and other HRIS platform implementations, configuration, and optimization.
