Job Description

Waste Connections the leader in is looking for a Maintenance Helper for our processing facility in St. Petersburg, FL.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance of equipment

  • Welding of machine and equipment

  • Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.

  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

  • General maintenance of yard, including yard clean up and washing of equipment

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 2 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

  • Welding experience is a must

  • Must possess excellent communications skills

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.

  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.

  • Ability to operate small off-road equipment. Ability to operate other heavy equipment an asset but not required.

  • Knowledge of light equipment operation and maintenance.

  • Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance including tire pressure, checking oil and water levels.

  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.

Must be able to pass all pre-employment checks - including, Criminal, Drug, Reference and Fit for Duty test.
