Waste Connections Operator in Greenview, Alberta

R360 Canada, an affiliate of Waste Connections, offers a variety of services to clients in the energy, environmental and industrial sectors. These services are delivered via our network of facilities, along with our specialized equipment and assets. We are equipped to process, recover, recycle and dispose of waste and other materials safely and cost-effectively for our customers.

We are currently looking for a Facility Operator at our Kakwa SWD facility located between Grande Prairie and Grande Cache. This role is a shift role, having 7 days on and 7 days off for both dayshifts and nightshifts.

Job Purpose

The Facility Operator position is responsible for the day-to-day safe and customer service-oriented operations of waste treatment, oil treatment and water injection. The Operator will actively assist with standard operating procedures, hazard assessments, safety programs and environment protection. The Operator will be in constant contact with customers and must demonstrate excellent communications skills and a high level of customer service.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible and accountable for the day-to-day operation of the facility

  • Responsible for truck unloading, oil emulsion and water & vac trucks

  • Responsible for oil treating with the treater, cooler or tank treating

  • Participating inwaste processing, waste and mud tank operation, shaker & centrifuge operations and solids treating

  • Responsible and accountable for the receipt, terminal storage and transportation of crude oil while adhering to Measurement & Crude OilQuality compliance

  • Managing ongoingwater injection, filter changing and pump maintenance

  • Conducting treatment of solids on the waste pad

  • Conducting boiler operations, testing and steamsystem operations

  • Ensuring that all corporate compliance programs are adhered to

  • Submitting truck tickets summary, daily plant checklists, and balance and transfers to the office

  • Participates in theHealth & SafetyManagement System(HSMS)

  • Waste plant operation (ensuring solids processing is meeting or exceeding landfill criteria and solids testing)

  • Followingwater injectionSOP’s and best practices to protect the disposal well integrity

  • General maintenance, ensure that the plant is kept clean and safe

Qualifications/Competencies

The individual in this role will have:

  • A High School Diploma, General Education Diploma or equivalent

  • A minimum of 3 years operational experience inwaste processingand oil treating orwater injection

  • Midstream terminal operationsexperience is considered a strong asset

  • Specialty training in boilers, treaters, pumps (all), repairs, shaker/centrifuge and loader is considered an asset

  • Proven ability to demonstrate strong methods regarding all processes in the plant, including; safety operations, oil treating & blending,waste processingand water disposal

  • Current and valid safety tickets, including H2S Alive, First Aid Level One C, Confined Space Entry, WHIMS and TDG

  • A strong attention to detail, communication skills with the ability to work long hours in a mentally and physically demanding work environment

  • Must be able to document their work, perform and manage cross shift communication and ensure strategic communication with multiple stakeholders

  • Must be able to multi-task and demonstrate excellent decision-making skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues

  • Must demonstrate excellentcustomer serviceskills and safe work practices

  • A valid and acceptable Driver’s license and successful completion of Pre-employment testing
