Waste Connections is seeking a highly motivated, safety focused, and results oriented Senior Environmental Specialist to join our Western Region Engineering team!
A Day in the Life of a Region Environmental Specialist:
Manage the timing, quality, and cost of environmental engineering support services such as auditing, planning, inspecting, monitoring, recordkeeping, and technical training.
Analyze groundwater, wastewater, and storm water data and prepare summaries, best management practice (BMP) recommendations, and cost estimates for consideration by local and regional management.
Conduct on-site, internal audits, technical visits, and training. Site visits will involve exposure to environmental elements which will include chemicals, dirt, odors, noise, wastewater, and weather extremes.
Follow and be knowledgeable in relevant environmental regulations and support correspondence with regulators.
Compose technical reports and compliance documentation. Facilitate/coordinate consultant project support and ensure deliverable quality.
Develop training materials.
Review special waste applications for acceptance at region landfills.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Live in California, preferably Folsom.
Must have a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, or a related field.
Must have minimum of 5 years of previous experience in a highly regulated industry. Waste services experience is preferred.
A working knowledge of environmental regulations.
Above average computer skills (word, excel).
Excellent oral and written skills.
Willingness and ability to travel at least 50% of the time including, but not limited to overnight trips, meetings, trainings, and conferences.
Willingness and ability to work limited weekend hours, as needed.
Willingness and ability to use personal vehicle for travel to locations reasonably reached by driving.
3-5 days/week in office except when traveling.
Salary: $90,000 - $140,000 Annually
Bonus: 0-10%
