Job Description

Waste Connections of Canada is a leader in non-hazardous solid waste management in North America is looking for a Route Supervisor to support our team on the Peel Residential Collections contract. We are looking for an innovative, creative and proactive team player capable of creating and driving change. The current contract runs until Oct. 2024.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Route Supervisor will monitor all aspects of their assigned collections crew to achieve key safety, service and productivity metrics.

  • The supervisor will observe and coach staff to ensure that they provide excellent safe efficient service on each assigned collection route/area.

  • Responsible to oversee day to day operations of 15-20 DZ drivers and loaders.

  • Each supervisor will resolve customer complaints and follow up to ensure it stays resolved.

  • The Supervisor will monitor collections, breakdowns, any damage complaints, and customer service delivery to ensure no missed streets.

  • The Supervisor will respond to spills in compliance with company policies and environmental regulations.

  • Each supervisor will be scheduled and required to cover Fridays, and Saturdays after Stat holiday weeks with the other supervisors on a rotation basis.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supervising in a unionized environment

  • DZ license. - preferred or will obtain within first 6 months.

  • Customer oriented individual

  • Organized - able to coordinate daily operations to tight timelines.

  • Good communication skills to uncover issues seek win/win solutions and effectively deal with other Team members, and customers, both internal and external.

  • Must be able to defuse a situation and deal with upset customers effectively and professionally.

  • Good computer skills

  • Familiarity with routing, logistics or industry terminology is an asset

  • Team player keeping the overall collections as the final daily goal.

  • Safety training experience

  • Must be able to coach, mentor and discipline direct reports
